The peace treaty signed in January 2005 between the North and South of Sudan made it possible to massively advance the development of the southern part of the country. After years of war it was now necessary to initiate political, social, and economic reconstruction measures with international support in order to develop the country‘s infrastructure quickly and purposefully. The first important construction project to be planned was a „State House“ in Nimule near the border to Uganda. The building complex which sits in a beautiful, untouched landscape comprises a hotel with approximately 300 rooms respectively suites for international guests to the county as well as a conference centre. Another civil war ended the plans for the State House.
