In the course of the competition process, the industrial area is to be transformed into a “productive urban quarter”, providing spaces for manufacturing, office, service, and hotel uses, supplemented by publicly accessible amenities such as gastronomy, culture and retail to serve the district. The master plan envisions a high point in the quarter in the form of a 100-metre-high building. We propose positioning the high-rise as a standalone structure without a rear side at the intersection of various movement axes, with its striking three-part freeform derived from the kinetic forces of the adjacent movement axes and flows. In the vertical structure of the high-rise, the theme of the natural landscape is translated from the open space into architecture and continued in terraced designs at both the base and the roof. The façade concept featuring conically shaped vertical mullions, which generate solar power while guiding natural air supply and minimising solar heat gain through shading, enhances the dynamic effect of the curved building envelope.
