The Sparkasse ensemble in the heart of Lüneburg’s historic old town is to be clearly structured in terms of urban development and carefully integrated into the cityscape. The building, which has complemented the complex on Waagestrasse since the 1990s, is to function autonomously.

The aim is to convert the unusable interior spaces into high-quality, usable outdoor spaces, whereby the adjacent interior space benefits from natural lighting and ventilation. In addition, an outdoor space quality is to be created that integrates the “An der Münze 3” building and promotes biodiversity and the community of users. The new building in the middle of the main branch respects the heights of the historic neighboring buildings and sits gently over the adjacent existing blocks.
