A new office location is to be developed near Hamburg‘s traffic hub Berliner Tor. Our competition entry takes up the historical small-scale industrial development from the post-war period and, with its three buildings, creates a contrasting finely structured response to the large-scale surrounding complexes that currently characterise the location. The buildings are positioned to invite pedestrian traffic. The upper floors provide offices that can be flexibly adapted to different workplace requirements. The ground floor zones provide a wide range of gastronomic, shopping and sports facilities that can be used during the day and also in the evening hours, thus revitalising the neighbourhood. The different uses are reflected in the façade design: While exposed concrete is used for the ground floor, the office levels are finished with precast concrete elements in different shades.
