In Hamburg’s Elbbrücken quarter, directly adjacent to the new underground and suburban train line station at the eastern entrance to HafenCity, a congress center with two complementary hotel concepts is to be built. Our contribution to the competition was awarded second place. The design is divided into three areas - a nine-storey block along Versmannstrasse and a seven-storey L-shaped block on Baakenwerder Strasse flank a 19-storey tower at the intersection of the two streets. The tower is detached from the horizontal parts of the building as an isolated figure. The strongly vertically structured facade of the tower and the horizontally structured perimeter block buildings create harmonious proportions.
